Quick answer: Check your phone’s health platform first: Apple Health on iPhone or Health Connect on Android. Confirm the app has step permission, inspect the source data, then reopen the challenge app while online.
Why two totals can differ
Your phone, watch, and connected apps may all contribute step data. A challenge app then reads from a health platform, and its display may update later than the platform itself. Before deciding a score is wrong, check for recorded steps, the platform's data sources, and the permission granted to the challenge app. Different apps may still calculate or refresh totals differently.
On iPhone: inspect Apple Health
- Open the Health app and find Steps under Activity.
- Open Data Sources & Access to see which devices and apps contribute, and their priority.
- From your Health profile, open Privacy → Apps → MovePeeps and check access to Steps. If MovePeeps is absent, open it and start the health connection first.
Apple explains that Health can count steps automatically and that data source priority affects totals. The exact menu labels can vary by software version. If you use both iPhone and Apple Watch, inspect the source list rather than assuming both displays will always match.
On Android: inspect Health Connect
- Open Health Connect from your device settings or the Health Connect app, depending on Android version. Under Data and access → Activity → Steps → Manage Data → See all entries, inspect recorded steps; menu labels may vary.
- Check App permissions → MovePeeps to confirm it can read steps.
- Under Manage data → Data sources and priority, inspect the source order if multiple apps record steps.
Google's Health Connect setup guide explains where to find permissions. Its data management guide explains how source priority can affect totals.
If the leaderboard still looks stale
If there are no step entries, check the phone or source app that records them. If entries exist but MovePeeps lacks read permission, grant access. If both look right, reopen MovePeeps while online and retry sync; the support page has the app-specific steps. Ask each person to check their own total, and allow time for delayed data before announcing the result. Do not request raw health records or location screenshots in the group chat. Step counts can still be incomplete or inaccurate, so keep a friendly challenge in perspective.
Plan your first round
MovePeeps is being prepared for a private Monday-to-Sunday step competition for two to eight people. Members will connect their phone’s health platform and see the group’s step totals on one leaderboard. Join the waitlist to hear when the app is ready, or use the challenge generator to draft an invite now.
If a step total looks delayed or an invite does not work, visit MovePeeps support. See the privacy policy for what the app reads and shares.
